Students playing the cello

Welcome to the Westwood Prodigy Program

The Prodigy Program is currently celebrating its 32nd year as a valued resource for quality, convenient and affordable musical instruction within the Westwood community. Since its inception in 1991, the Prodigy Program has grown to include over 360 music students taught by a staff of 20 professional musicians/teachers. Current Prodigy students study a variety of woodwind, brass, string and percussion instruments, as well voice and piano. Students participating in the Prodigy Program work to gain the musical knowledge and skills that fully support their participation in our in-school band and/or choral programs. Many dedicated Prodigy students also pursue additional musical opportunities such as performing in solo recitals, playing in chamber groups, and auditioning for regional and all-state ensembles - in the process laying the groundwork for a lifetime of music participation and enjoyment.
